Work begins after the engagement requirements have been completed.

No. Services can generally be provided online to clients throughout Australia.

Documents, questionnaires, messages, signatures and payments can be managed through the secure client portal. A telephone or video appointment can also be arranged where required.

Fees depend on the complexity of your tax affairs and the work required.

A straightforward individual tax return will generally cost less than a return involving sole trader income, rental properties, capital gains, cryptocurrency, foreign income or incomplete records.

You will receive a quote or pricing confirmation before work begins.

Appointments can be booked through the online portal or the booking link on the Contact page.

Please include a brief description of what you would like to discuss so the appointment can be prepared appropriately.

Documents and Information

The documents required depend on your circumstances.

They may include income statements, bank interest and dividend statements, private health insurance details, work-related expense records, rental property documents, business records, investment records and cryptocurrency reports.

You will receive an organiser that identifies the information relevant to your tax return.

ATO pre-fill information is useful, but it may not be complete or correct.

You are still responsible for providing complete and accurate information about your income, deductions, investments and other tax matters.

Documents should be uploaded through the secure client portal whenever possible.

Please do not send Tax File Numbers, identity documents, bank details, or other sensitive information via ordinary email when a secure upload method is available.

Yes. Identity verification may be required before tax or accounting services are provided.

You may be asked to provide current identification and complete verification questions through a secure process.

Please advise me as early as possible if records are missing or incomplete.

Additional work may be required to reconstruct information, review transactions or obtain supporting documents. This may delay completion and may result in an additional fee, which will be discussed before that work proceeds.

Preparing Your Tax Return

Processing time depends on the complexity of the return, the completeness of your records, current workload and whether further information or supervisory review is required.

Providing complete and organised information promptly will generally reduce delays.

No. Your tax return will first be prepared and reviewed.

You will be asked to review the completed return and approve the information before lodgment. The return will not be lodged until the required declarations, signatures and approvals have been received.

You are responsible for reviewing the completed tax return and confirming that the information is true, correct and complete before it is lodged.

Please carefully check your personal details, income, deductions, bank information and other relevant amounts.

Taxation services may be provided under an approved professional supervision arrangement.

Relevant client information, working papers and completed tax returns may be reviewed by The Accounting Academy or an authorised supervising tax agent for quality assurance, compliance and approval purposes.

No. A refund cannot be guaranteed.

The result depends on your income, tax withheld, deductions, offsets, liabilities and individual circumstances. In some cases, a tax return may result in tax payable.

No ethical tax practitioner can guarantee a specific refund amount.

The objective is to prepare an accurate and lawful tax return and claim the deductions and offsets to which you are legitimately entitled.

Overdue Returns and Amendments

Yes, assistance may be available for overdue tax returns.

Please identify all outstanding financial years when completing the initial questionnaire. The scope and fee will depend on the number of outstanding returns and the condition of the available records.

Assistance may be available where a previously lodged tax return contains an error or omitted information.

The original return and supporting records will need to be reviewed before confirming whether an amendment is appropriate and what fee will apply.

Lodgment, Payment and Communication

After lodgment, the Australian Taxation Office processes the return and issues a notice of assessment.

ATO processing times are outside the control of Gold Standard Tax & Accounting. The ATO may request further information before finalising the assessment.

Payment instructions will be included with your invoice.

Depending on the engagement, payment may be required before work begins, before lodgment or in accordance with the agreed payment terms.

Routine communication may occur through the secure client portal, email, telephone or a scheduled appointment.

Sensitive documents and confidential tax information should generally be exchanged through the secure client portal.
